'Winston'

Our Program

Our support puppy program introduces children to the calming, nurturing presence of Winston, our affectionate and well-trained support dog. Designed to enhance wellbeing and connection, the program allows children to engage in gentle, supervised interactions that build confidence, empathy, and emotional resilience. Winston’s involvement enriches our learning environment, offering comfort, joy, and meaningful opportunities for growth each day.

A Calming Presence
A Calming Presence

Winston, our gentle and well-trained support dog, is a beloved part of our childcare community. His calm presence helps children feel safe, comforted, and connected as they navigate their day. Whether he’s greeting families in the morning or quietly resting nearby during play, Winston brings a sense of warmth and stability that children naturally gravitate toward.

Building Confidence and Emotional Wellbeing
Building Confidence and Emotional Wellbeing

Through supervised interactions, children learn how to approach, care for, and communicate with Winston in kind and respectful ways. These moments offer rich opportunities for developing empathy, confidence, and emotional regulation. For many children, spending time with Winston becomes a meaningful part of their routine—helping them manage big feelings and build trusting relationships.

Learning Through Connection

Winston also supports learning through intentional experiences woven into our program. Educators use his presence to spark conversations about responsibility, friendship, and wellbeing. Simple activities such as brushing him, reading to him, or observing his behaviour help children develop curiosity, language skills, and gentle leadership. Winston is more than a visitor—he is a valued member of our centre who contributes to the emotional and social growth of every child he meets.
